Ixora Red Super King is an attractive medium sized shrub that truly is the 'King' of all the ixoras.  It actually an older heirloom cultivar that has recently regained popularity and is being re-introduced as 'new'  so if you see it elsewhere as 'new', it is not really, it has just been 'newly found' again, and is not widely available in the nursery trade.  

Ixora Red Super King matures into medium size 3' to 4'  shrub.  It has large elongated glossy leaves and a lightly open habit.  Ixora Red Super King blooms in huge star shaped clusters of blood red flowers from early summer until well into the fall.  With good fertilize and adequate irrigation, flower clusters will be 6-8" across. 

 It is a tropical shrub that is hardy in zones 9B,10 and11, but can be grown potted in colder zones and wintered over with adequate full spectrum light.  Ixora Red Super King is a tropical, and while it might withstand very brief drops below 32 with minor burn & defoliation, it requires protection from frost and freeze. This cultivar cannot withstand prolonged exposure to temperatures below the high 30's.

Uxora Red Super King is attractive as a single specimen or plant several in a group or hedge for maximum impact.  It is especially nice as an anchor layer with lower growing bedding plants in front in a bright contrasting color.

• Plant in well draining, fertile, slightly acidic soil
• Locate in the full sun
• Prune for shape after flowering
• Feed a good quality slow release bloom boosting plant food twice yearly
• Protect from frost and freeze.
