We can become more calm and relaxed just by thinking of the color blue. From the deep mysterious blues of the ocean to the uplifting promise of an endless blue sky, blue calms and inspires us.
Although blue is the least common color in the plant realm, there are many plant choices available to bring that same calm serenity to the garden, from cool icy almost white blues, to the deep multi hued blues of hydrangeas and agapanthus.
Blue lends itself best to analogous and monochromatic garden arrangements than most any color, except perhaps white. There are many light and dark combinations sufficient to bring texture and contrast, and nearly all are complimentary to one another.
Blue works well in contrast with other primary colors.
